June 2017 Goals + A Challenge for You

Ah, June. The birds are chirping, the temperature is rising, and the scent of lawnmower gas and fresh-cut grass lingers in the air. And my favourite part – the misty morning sunrises.  That’s right – summer is here, and so is my renewed sense of hope and adventure! With that in mind, here are my June 2017 goals:

Health & Fitness

One of the best things about summer is the outdoor exercise. Walking in the cool, misty air at sunrise, doing laps in the refreshing pool under the warm summer sun – what isn’t there to love? While I usually opt for the indoor sweat sessions (I’m a wimp!), this month is all about enjoying nature and shaking up the routine.

Diet: I’ve got a little bit to go before I’ll feel really bikini ready (don’t we all?). Stick to my calorie goals and lose 5 lbs.

Exercise: Exercise 5 times a week every week in June. Keep up the weight lifting at the gym, but include more cardio: swimming, tennis, and early morning runs. Do yoga at sunrise at least 3 times per week with the sunrise.

Work

This month I’m challenging myself to up my game on the freelancing front. I’d also like to begin diversifying my income, and hopefully plant seeds that will lead to passive income in the future.

Freelancing: Earn $500 with copy-writing on UpWork.

Writing: Write one eBook to be published on Kindle.

Studies

I’m a big believer that education doesn’t stop once you take the graduation robes off. Continuous and diversified learning is a cornerstone to my journey to becoming a true Renaissance Woman.

Language: Begin learning Swedish on Duolingo. Complete 3 lessons every day in June.

Reading: Read 3 books.

Skills: I adore Udemy. For less than half the price of a single college course, you could become a master of anything at your own pace. Plus, no homework! This month, I want to finish my blogging course to become a better writer and deliver more useful content for my readers.

Family & Friends

This month is mine and my father’s birthday, so there will be a lot of time spent with family. This month my father turns 49, so I’d like to spend some time this month thinking of a big surprise I can give my father for his 50th. Every year around my birthday I tend to do more solitary reflection than wild celebration with friends, so I’d like to try to change that. Life is too short to be a full-time navel-gazer!

Family: Plan an impressive gift for dad’s next birthday.

Friends: Plan an actual celebration for my birthday that my friends will enjoy.

Adventure & Travel

There’s nothing like the hot summer air to spark a sense of adventure. While this month might not include boarding a plane or roaming the roads, my June 2017 goals will still kick me far outside my comfort zone.

Adventure: A recent trip to meetup.com has revealed that there’s a dragon boating club in my area. Who would turn down the chance to make new friends AND be a Viking for a day?! On a slightly less bicep-crushing note, I’m applying for my passport this month. One step closer to my goal of being a globetrotting super-babe!

Spirituality

Alright, alright, I admit it. I haven’t been as diligent about my meditation habit lately. I usually manage to meditate for 10 minutes most days (maybe 4 out of 7), but it’s time I step up my game. Considering how life-changing it’s been for me, it’s time it became a cornerstone of my mornings.

Meditation: Meditate 15 minutes at least 20 days in June.

Contribution

One of my top 2017 goals is to give more. Since all good habits are built on small actions, my year goal of volunteering 150 hours starts off simple: volunteer 5 hours this month.

Volunteering: Submit application to the animal shelter. Work one 5-hour shift.

My Challenge for You

Enough about me. Let’s talk about your June 2017 goals. Do you know what they are?

More importantly, do you have a plan to get there? A specific goal?

My challenge to you today is to make your goals list for this month with a specific plan to get there. What is it exactly that you’re working on? Why? How will you know when you’ve achieved it? By what time will you have it finished?

And, just for some added accountability, tell your friends. Write them down. Post them in the comments down below. Let’s make June 2017 the best month yet!
